PARTNERSHIP REQUEST ON ICTs FOR DEVELOPMENT WITH MAXIMUM YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

Globalmicrocom is an Information and Communication Technology Company in our developing country Nigeria that provides people with affordable and cheap means of communication through the Internet, also we do Wireless and Cabled Networking including Consultancy Services in Information and Communications Technology(ICT). Presently our main business is the provision of affordable access to the global pool of information around the world for business, academic, social, economic, political and any facet of life.
I am writing to Inform you that our Organisation has submitted Our Project on ICTs for Development to Infodev Incubator Initiative(The Information for Development Programme), www.infodev.org, for funding and we are waiting for the shorlisting.

Our Project Title is: BRIDGING THE DIGITAL GAP THROUGH THE PROVISION OF IT SOLUTIONS, FREE INTERNET TRAINING/COMPUTER AWARENESS NETWORK AND ACCESS TELECENTERS IN RURAL/SUB-URBAN COMMUNITIES OF NIGERIA.

Our Project of Free Internet Trainings is 8 months since started in our Lagos based(sub-urban) Internet Cafe' and the impact and tremendous development of skills encouraged us to seek for means of replications with more programs.

The Project is to provide the following through the large network of Community information and learning centres(Digital Libraries) to be established:

Employment for the Youths as and wherever the Project is replicated, Free Entrepreneural Trainings in ICTs field like Cybercafe Ownership/Management, Free Internet Training(hands-on-trainings) leading to the development of Computer/Internet skills for better careers, those that are technically inclined especially the poor unemployed youths(boys/girls) are to be absorbed into our Organisation as on the Job-Trainee Engineers giving them the opportunity of becoming future Hardware/Software/Networking Engineers. E-learning, E-business, E-governance, Health Researches(Aids awareness/prevention), Agricultural Researches(fish farming and crop productions, etc) are all included in our Project. Women/girls will be highly encouraged to participate in order to achieve maximum women Empowerment through our Project.

This project will be continous("life long") and will be sustained and replicated in as many as possible rural communities in Nigeria as years go by through the monthly sales of bandwidth to profit oriented subscribers and tokens collected hourly(for Internet Access) from users after being trained free. the tokens to be collected will be at a highly subsidised rate that we are sure will be convenient and affordable by the rural members in order to encourage high participation and maximum impact. this project will grow from state level to regional and from regional to national level making possible a very large information development services network telecenters established, operational and efficient even extending outside the borders of Nigeria.

We are to bear a part of the cost of starting the project and we are also soliciting for financial/ material(equipments like computer/mobile phones) donations etc and consultant support(online volunteering and advisory supports) towards this project that will make history in our generation and the future.

We invite your organisation to become a participating partner in this our life long project towards the socio economic empowerment of the poor, less priviledged and marginalised ones from the grassroot.

Please send us a reply to know your position on our request, we look forward to good working relationship with your Organisation especially in this our life long Project of Empowerment of the Poor with ICTs. Thanks.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Nwokoye Azubike
